LISA SPEAKS (So Listen Up!):
What are YOU doing for pain management? Are you ignoring your pain? I know I’ve been guilty of ignoring my pain. Experience has told me that PAIN won’t go away if you ignore it. It’s just like anything else that you don’t want to deal with. The more you ignore it the LOUDER it yells. However, when I’ve taken the time to figure out why I have my pain and what I can do about it, the pain starts to take a backseat to the solution. It’s like my body knows I’m coming to the rescue. It gives me subtle hints when I’m on the right track and not so subtle when I’ve done something to make it worse. Doh!
If you LISTEN, your body will tell you amazing stories of what’s going on in the inside. If you are proactive in getting results it responds immediately, maybe not as fast as we would like it to, BUT I have found through bodywork that PATIENCE really is a learned experience. Pain that has been with you off and on for 20 years can be removed from your life; if you listen to what you’re body is telling you. I’ve helped people achieve this goal through bodywork and finding the things that trigger it.
For me personally its exercise (where I exorcise the pain!). I’m a very physical person. The more I do, the more my body wants. I hurt more when I don’t do some form of exercise daily than when I don’t exercise. Exercise is what keeps my pulleys and levers moving (the body is a system of them). I change my routines regularly to prevent or correct the pain issues.
Through bodywork I’ve learned that most pain- disease, injury or accident related excluded, is caused by a muscle imbalance (somewhere). I mean go figure there are more than 600 muscles in the body! What could possibly go wrong? Treating our bodies like they are supposed to keep going without any attention or upkeep is a long term goal for disaster. Proper nutrition, exercise and hydration can take care of most things, however sometimes you need a little help to reduce the stress that keeps building up or to address the pain that you’ve let build up in your back, your shoulder, your leg…pick a spot.
We can’t live a full life never having pain. That’s a fact. It’s not the pain that gets us down or holds us back; it’s what we do about it that sets us apart.
The main point here is DO NOT ignore your pain!Pain is the body’s way of saying there is something wrong. If your body was a friend calling you on the phone to cry on your shoulder you wouldn’t hang up and take a pill. You would listen; maybe give some advice or a hug. Listen to your body. Pain is its way of talking to you.
What is your pain saying? Sometimes it’s just saying it’s time to slow down and take time for you. You need it. You deserve it. Take care of yourself as you would take care of others. Exercise, eat nutritious meals, stay hydrated, get a massage. Just sayin’.
You are the most important thing you will ever own. It’s not what happens to you, it’s what you do with it that counts!
We look forward to getting you results!
